Oh Krishna! sorry..

I really do not even know if I shud blog this..since this is more a personal memoirs and sort of my diary, I should mention this very heavy n sad loss.
My dear friend Krishna who lives in swiss has lost his dear 5 year old daughter to some nasty new virus. I still cant gather how some new virus and a high fever can take the life of a 5 year old in such a developed nation!
I know the swiss medical system too well, still..I know that in their ‘elimination process’ and the ‘slow to react style’ of operation we have witnessed many a goofs. But this is too much to digest.
I know am reacting with too less info on hand..W told me in the midst of her tearful gasps that she had a bad news and I was not ready yet when she mumbled something like “ krishnas went to Valais and….they lost their daughter”..my mind immediately imagines some accident etc even b4 she finishes the sentence and later to know that some virus attack, high fever led to this is unfathomable.
My dear Krishnas- I know how tuff it is and how difficult it is to come out from such grief. I just wish you get the strength to over come this irreparable loss.
The ever ready ‘volunteer’ that Krishna is and ‘always there’ couple that they are and the ever smiling folks that they are- its going to take some time for me to gather some strength & talk to u guys.
Update: I was afterall right..what avail anyways? Those swiss docs reacted in their typical way and apparently screwed it up. Pneumonia not detected! prolly a piece of cake in this part. Its a shame, esp when one's ineffeciency can be fatal to other and even worse is when the victim is a 5 year old! Add to that holidays- vagaries of the rich west:-(

The season!

Madras Music Season is so special IMHO. In my expatriate days too I used to try and travel back home during dec/jan for 3 reasons: music season, jan 14th Thuglak readers address by CHO and the weather will be the best in Madras then.
Now, I find the season becoming bigger & popular each year, which is a good thing. In the last 3 years I have seen a remarkable increase in the no of events, performers and rasikas. I did mention here how it was like going to a theatre for some of the popular artists’ concerts. This year too, last Sunday, W & me were left stranded for tickets to Aruna sairam’s concert at Narada Gana Sabha. I was only happy bcos am impressed with this surge in interest -how ever much it cud be a fad and ‘been there done that’ feel, it’s a good thing to have.
Its another matter that I caught up with aruna sairam’s performance in the next days. If u were to attend only 2 concerts this season, I would recommend Aruna & O.S.Arun. Although I wud venture to see how the newbies like sikkil Gurucharan and Charulatha mani perform.
And to name the best canteens – I didn’t venture out much to canteens (2 fasting days came up) and so an update from me at the end of next week shud be good. Till now music academy and Nungambakkam culturals (Kannada sabha) are at the top.

Hatrick

Since this happened, I have fasted 3 times and successfully! The last of this trio was spent doing my regular chores- went thru 3 govt offices (that includes waiting, waiting and waiting and finally being pushed to ‘next week’ or some such deflection tactics), visiting friends, restore bazaar activities, travel back to my home that is 30 kms from the city. All this with reasonable ease!
One other interesting fall out was that atleast 3 of my friends mailed to ask some doubts reg this and they also attempted fasting! That’s a great impact in my diary:-) btw i drink one or 2 chai and close to 1 litre of water during the fasting. I seriously dunno if I can do without this.
One of the great writers of tamil, Balakumaran, with whom I used to interact closely during my college days had this to say one day – ‘an average student that Iam, got the opportunity of reading some great books of JK, Ayn Rand, thija, sujata et al and changed. Even if 4 people read me and change for good in their life, my goal is achieved’. That was modesty, I know. But so much for good influence!
Thanks for attempting to fast folks! Thats really interesting n fun and to know u all had it in mind before and this blog triggered the serious try.. even if u thought- after all if he can do, why cant I- it could be a very logical reason:-) anywhich way am elated.
Now, go and fast regularly. It is helping, really!

GM foods!

Heard of Genetically Modified food or genetically engineered food?
Yes or No, you shall have them on your plates too soon.
So as well get to know of that evil.
Companies like Monsanto who were intoxicating our food with pesticides and other chemicals aren’t satisfied with just slow poisoning us. So they thought out and came out with a terrific plan of tampering the genes our food and so screw up the civilization in toto! But isn’t that cutting the golden goose, you may ask. Pl be informed you are talking logic, where as what matters is filling in the coffers at all costs, today and now!
While the US has already many GM crops like the corn, soya, cotton, canola, etc lets be warned not to consume any product that has the above in the ingredients. Once GM crop enters our food chain its going to be very tough to have non GM variety of the same. That is a reality now for cotton in India! Remember BT cotton and its impact? Monsanto and its cohorts here tried and reduced the noise saying cotton is after all a non food crop. Firstly, Cotton projected as not food crop itself is wrong. If you ever bought oil outside, in open market, mostly it had cotton seed oil. Also, cotton seeds are one of the main input for cattles. Secondly who certifies that these non food items donot affect the food crops? What happens to the soil? What happens to the next/inter crops? What happens to the neighbouring crops?
But that’s a digression now. These agri demons now are entering our plate directly. They are ready to sow BT Brinjal in the immediate future. If we don’t oppose like hell and if we don’t get our way, then all we free democratic citizens will actually have no right or say in what enters our food cycle. Its not that only the genetically engineered BT Brinjal is waiting at our door steps, there’s more to come- cabbage, tomato, groundnut, castor and even Rice!
Do you get the enormity of the problem we are facing?
Now, what?
Go here, here and here..
Send a message to the Health minister from here
And spread the word to all and sundry so that who ever can with their contacts and concern shall take it further and may be you would not only have saved your own plate but our country’s.

Its very much irreversible and there to stay for years to come and damage the ecosystem irreparably. Any argument that any new technology shall have two sides, some people oppose all new things etc doesnot hold water here. Agri technologies are not like other technologies! They impact humans and hosts of other living beings in a major way and for years to come.
So move it. Do something. Atleast spread this to as many – not only to create awareness, just in case that some one with some strength to pull strings in the top echelons does so after understanding the enormity of this issue.
Lets hope to stop the BT brinjals immediately and all the other GE food that are looming large over us- the biggggg market for the world!

Note1: When I asked many of the activists why is it that they are addressing most of their petitions and pleas to the health minister and not the agri minister, they all said its bcos Dr.Anbumani is the only hope there in the ministry to raise the voice against such strong moneyed lobby!

Note2: It has worked to an extent that Anbumani has infact raised his voice against GM foods here!

4 state election results – glimmer of hope

Its nice to see that there was some maturity in our voters.
Importantly we see that the performing govts have won. Even unsung and not so media followed guys like Raman Singh(Chattisgarh) & Chauhan (MP) have won – more bcos they are silent performers and not the noisy variety. I have heard that Raman Singh has even been blatantly against the Naxals (A rarity in our politicos esp if that shall bring u votes) and still won. Good for us.
Sheila Dixit shud be a wonder, am sure. To perform a hatrick in India (esp when the ‘High command’ is breathing over your neck consistently) is an amazing feat. I personally feel this is one of its kind – the only other by Jyoti basu for me has more other reasons than development or real peoples’ votes. Hats off to Sheila, to actually trounce a strong contender in BJP. I think her no-nonsense style and clean development based campaign helped her. Atleast so I like to think, so that we can glorify our voters to have reached some level of maturity.
I know, Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan has not done very bad nor is she involved in any corruption or other scandal..but typical of most women politicians of India, I think she grew beyond her shoes and was not very popular within her own ranks. Was it bcos she wasn’t tolerant to bootlicking or corruption, I dunno. But its ok to lose out and wait n learn. She is often tipped to be arrogant (not in the same scales as Jaya or Maya) and here they claim her own party dug deeper holes that the opponents. I wud be glad if another low profile guy like Gehlot is given the reins. I have heard he is a decent fella inspite of being cong!
I cant understand one thing- Why doesn’t Cong declare who shall be their leader. Here at Rajasthan, now the bickering will start and some drama will unfold. Totally unnecessary. A wrong style in my op! It never helps. In Delhi people assumed it shall be Sheila and in Rajasthan too may be people assumed it shall be Gehlot.
But did u notice one (good) thing? Uma Bharti- the fire brand is nowhere. Even Maya’s BSP won seats but not Uma’s party. That for me was a surprise. She was everything at MP for BJP and suddenly she is out of the party (her own making) and she’s nowhere! Are parties so important or leaders not so really big?
In all, some good sensible results. Iam happy at such maturity- even if incidental.

Dosa camp @ Vishranti

A bunch of us volunteers from restore went to Vishranti old age home in the outskirts of Madras and had a great time.
Regulars here would have seen mention of Vishranti- an old age home with more than 150 destitute old women. This is run by the ever enterprising and the old service hand- Mrs. Savitri vaithyVishranti is one of the oldest NGOs of Madras. The old paatis of Vishranti help restore in sorting, winnowing, cleaning and packing of grains for our restore markets.
We at restore thought we should do something different, funfilled activity and so went with all organic ingredients for dosas, masala and chutney and took turns in making 600 dosas approx this sunday. It was fun all the way and a great change for all those women there. What with making fun of each other's dosa shape, time taken, imbibed tricks, failures in copying their chef and what not..
It was so heartening that none of us felt anything close to tiredness at the end of this 4 hour exercise.

The World According to Monsanto Film Review

This is one of the terrific reviews and an great insight in to Monsantos designs.

I mean, the movie by itself is a must watch, but this review is too good too!

The World According to Monsanto Film Review:

The World According to Monsanto Directed by Marie-Monique RobinReviewed by Jeffrey M. SmithDistributed by Yes! Books, http://www.monsantofilm.com/, $19.95Includes bonus film and audio CD.
How much outrage can a single multinational corporation inspire? How much damage can they inflict? The breathtaking new film, The World According to Monsanto, features a company that sets the new standard. From Iowa to Paraguay, from England to India, Monsanto is uprooting our food supply and replacing it with their patented genetically engineered creations. And along the way, farmers, communities, and nature become collateral damage. The Gazette says the movie "will freeze the blood in your veins." The Hour says it's a "horrifying enough picture" to warrant "fury." But most importantly, this critical film opens our eyes just in time. The film is the work of celebrated award-winning French filmmaker Marie-Monique Robin, whose three years of work on four continents exposes why Monsanto has become the world's poster child for malignant corporate influence in government and technology. Combining secret documents with accounts by victims, scientists and policy makers, she guides us through a web of misleading reports, pressure tactics, collusion, and attempted corruption. And we learn how the company systematically tricked governments into allowing dangerous genetically modified (GM) foods into our diet—with Monsanto in charge of determining if they're safe. Deception, Deception, Deception The company's history with some of the most toxic chemicals ever produced, illustrates why they can't be trusted. Ask the folks of Anniston, Alabama, where Monsanto's PCB factory secretly poisoned the neighborhood for decades. PCBs are Monsanto's toxic oils used as coolants and lubricants for over 50 years and are now virtually omnipresent in the blood and tissues of humans and wildlife around the globe. But Anniston residents have levels hundreds or thousands of times the average. They all know their levels, which they carry as death sentences. David Baker, who lost his little brother and most of his friends to PCB-related diseases such as cancer, says Anniston kids used to run up to him, report their PCB level and ask, "How long you think I got?" Ken Cook of the Environmental Working Group says that based on Monsanto documents made public during a trial, the company "knew the truth from the very beginning. They lied about it. They hid the truth from their neighbors." One Monsanto memo explains their justification: "We can't afford to lose one dollar of business." Monsanto also produced the infamous Agent Orange, the cancer and birth-defect causing defoliant sprayed over Vietnam. It contaminated more than 3 million civilians and servicemen. But according to William Sanjour, who led the Toxic Waste Division of the Environmental Protection Agency, "thousands of veterans were disallowed benefits" because "Monsanto studies showed that dioxin [the main ingredient in Agent Orange] was not a human carcinogen." But his EPA colleague discovered that Monsanto had allegedly falsified the data in their studies. Sanjour says, "If they were done correctly, [the studies] would have reached just the opposite result." Secret documents stolen from the FDA also reveal serious health effects from Monsanto's genetically engineered bovine growth hormone, called rBGH or rBST. In particular, the amount of a powerful hormone called IGF-1 is substantially increased in milk from treated cows. Samuel Epstein, Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, says that approximately 60 studies link IGF-1 to "breast, colon, and prostate cancers." Cancer is also implicated in Monsanto's showcase herbicide, Roundup. According Professor Robert Bellé's research showing disrupted cell division, "Roundup provokes the first stages that lead to cancer." Bellé, who is with the National Center for Scientific Research and the Pierre and Marie Curie Institute in France, says, "The tested doses were well below those which people normally use." Monsanto has promoted Roundup as harmless to both humans and the environment. But their advertised environmental claims, such as "biodegradable," "leaves the soil clean," and "respects the environment," were declared false and illegal by judges in both the US and France. In fact, Monsanto's own studies showed that 28 days after application, only 2% of the product had broken down. They were forced to remove "biodegradable" from the label. Above the law When Monsanto's transgressions are reported to authorities, somehow the company is magically let off the hook. When Monsanto finally did share information on PCBs with the government, for example, Ken Cook says "instead of siding with the people who were being poisoned, [the government] sided with the company. . . . It was outrageous!" When William Sanjour's EPA colleague, Cate Jenkins, asked the agency to review Monsanto's flawed Agent Orange studies, Sanjour says, "there was no investigation of Monsanto. . . . What they investigated was Cate Jenkins, the whistleblower! They made her life a hell." When Richard Burroughs of the FDA held up approval of rBGH by demanding more rigorous and relevant testing, he was fired. He says, "They figured: 'Well, if you're in the way, we'll get you out of the way.'. . . One day, I was escorted to the door and told that was it; I was done." Senior government scientists at Health Canada testified that their superiors were pressuring them to approve rBGH and that Monsanto had offered them an alleged bribe of $1-2 million. The scientists were later reprimanded, punished, and eventually "dismissed for disobedience." rBGH was never approved in Canada, Europe, and most industrialized nations. When Professor Bellé went to his administration "to let the public know about the dangers" of Roundup herbicide, he was "ordered" not to communicate his findings "due to the GMO question lurking in the background." That question about genetically modified organisms was in relation to Monsanto's "Roundup Ready" crops. Monsanto has the patent for 90% of the GMOs grown on the planet, and most of them are genetically modified specifically to tolerate applications of Roundup. Corporate Coup d'état Monsanto's past manipulations were mere warm ups compared to the virtual government takeover used to approve GM foods. Author Jeremy Rifkin, President of the Foundation for Economic Trends, says, "I have never seen a situation where one company could have so much overwhelming influence at the highest levels of regulatory decision making." The problem Monsanto faced was that GMOs are inherently unsafe. They can create dangerous side effects. That was the overwhelming consensus by FDA scientists, according to 44,000 agency documents made public from a lawsuit. But the most important document, FDA's official policy, claimed that GMOs were not substantially different. They were granted the status "Generally Recognized as Safe," even though they failed to meet the normal criteria. Thus, no safety testing is necessary. If Monsanto declares their GM products safe, the FDA has no further questions. Former FDA biotech coordinator James Maryanski admits on camera that the GMO policy "was a political decision," not scientific. In fact, FDA political appointee Michael Taylor was in charge of the policy. Taylor was formerly Monsanto's attorney and later their vice president. Monsanto's people regularly infiltrate upper echelons of government, and the company offers prominent positions to officials when they leave public service. This revolving door has included key people in the White House, regulatory agencies, even the Supreme Court. Monsanto also had George Bush Senior on their side, as evidenced by footage of Vice President Bush at Monsanto's facility offering help to get their products through government bureaucracy. He says, "Call me. We're in the 'de-reg' business. Maybe we can help." Monsanto's influence continued into the Clinton administration. Dan Glickman, then Secretary of Agriculture, says, "there was a general feeling in agro-business and inside our government in the US that if you weren't marching lock-step forward in favor of rapid approvals of biotech products, rapid approvals of GMO crops, then somehow, you were anti-science and anti-progress." He admits, "when I opened my mouth in the Clinton Administration [about the lax regulations on GMOs], I got slapped around a little bit." Unlike Glickman, FDA's Maryanski tries in vain to convince filmmaker Robin that GMOs are safe and that US regulation is adequate. But Robin had conducted four months of intensive internet research examining declassified documents, leaked internal files, scientific studies, trial transcripts, articles, and first hand accounts of whistleblowers. She was prepared. In a priceless sequence, the film alternates between Maryanski's assurances and public interest attorney Steven Druker reading formerly secret memos by agency scientists, describing the serious health damage that GMOs may cause. When Robin repeats these same quotes to Maryanski, he resorts to uncomfortable stuttering, stammering, and backtracking. When he ultimately tries to dismiss genetic engineering as completely safe, Robin nails him. She reads to Maryanski his own words from a 1991 memo in which he acknowledged that genetic engineering of a food supplement called L-tryptophan in the 1980s may have been responsible for a deadly epidemic that killed dozens and caused thousands to fall sick or become disabled. Suppressing evidence of harm, attacking GMO scientists When Monsanto's GM crops hit American farm fields in 1996, virtually no safety studies had been published. The pro-GM UK government decided to commission Dr. Arpad Pusztai, the world's leading scientist in his field, to design rigorous safety testing protocols that would convince a skeptical public to embrace GM foods. When Pusztai fed GM potatoes to rats, however, they developed potentially pre-cancerous cell growth, a damaged immune system, and inhibited growth of major organs. Moreover, Pusztai's work implicated the generic process of genetic engineering itself as the cause. That is, any GM food already on the market might create the same problems in humans. When Pusztai went public with his concerns, he was praised for his "wonderful work" by his director at the prestigious Rowett Institute. But according to a colleague, "two phone calls from Downing Street [the home of UK Prime Minister Tony Blair] to the director" resulted in Pusztai's sudden dismissal after 35 years. His protocols were shelved and he was the target of a relentless smear campaign, designed to destroy his reputation while promoting that of GMOs. UC Berkeley Professor Ignacio Chapela was also targeted after he published evidence that GM corn had cross-pollinated with indigenous Mexican varieties, forever contaminating "the world's genetic reservoir of corn." Just after his research was published in Nature, Mary Murphy and Andura Smetacek began posting false accusations on a biotech forum website, recruiting scientists to inundate the publication with demands to retract the study. When anti-GMO campaigner Jonathan Matthews analyzed the technical headers on the two's emails, he traced Smetacek to a Monsanto computer, and Murphy to their PR firm. The two were apparently fictitious characters created to stir things up. Matthews says, "There's no ethics at all in what's going on here. It shows an organization that is determined to push its products into countries around the world and it's determined to destroy the reputation of anybody who stands in their way." Monster corn and contamination by design The film explores an ominous new development in Mexico that has yet to be reported in the scientific literature. Mutated and bizarrely shaped corn plants have been found "along the roadside or in people's yards" or fields. Community organizer Aldo Gonzales says, "They are really monsters!" And whenever analyzed, the monsters turn out to be genetically engineered. Local scientists believe that when GM corn cross-pollinates with traditional varieties, some genetic effect disturbs the offspring. One Mexican farmer realized the implications. "If we don't manage to stop their spread in our fields, soon we'll be forced to buy our corn seed because our own won't work anymore?" Gonzales wonders if the contamination was intentional. He says, "Contamination only benefits multinationals like Monsanto." Intentional contamination of another sort appears to have happened in Paraguay, as illegal Roundup Ready seeds were smuggled in before GMOs were approved. Roberto Franco, Paraguay's Deputy Agriculture Ministry, tactfully admits, "It is possible that [Monsanto], let's say, promoted its varieties and its seeds" before they were approved. "We had to authorize GMO seeds because they had already entered our country in an, let's say, unorthodox way." Once approved, large agribusinesses bought huge tracts and cut down the rainforest to plant vast Roundup Ready soybean fields. The GMOs allow them to spray by plane or mechanical spreader; to farm without farmers. Peasants who had worked the land for generations are forced out—100,000 each year leave rural areas to live in the shanty towns of the cities. In one small farm community that is holding out next to a soy field, sprayed Roundup kills their livestock and crops, and sickens their children. Destroying farmers US family farmers also feel the heat. Troy Roush is one of hundreds accused by Monsanto of illegally saving their seeds. The company requires farmers to sign a contract that they will not save and replant GM seeds from their harvest. That way Monsanto can sell its seeds—at a premium—each season. Although Roush maintains his innocence, he was forced to settle with Monsanto after two and a half years of court battles. He says his "family was just destroyed [from] the stress involved." Many farmers are afraid, according to Roush, because Monsanto has "created a little industry that serves no other purpose than to wreck farmers' lives." Massive farmer suicides In many countries where Monsanto monopolizes the seeds of certain crops, they eliminate non-GMO choices to force farmers to buy GM varieties. In India, for example, where Monsanto pushes their pesticide-producing Bt cotton, "there was no non-BT hybrid seed available in the market," says agronomist Kiran Sakhari. Farmers had to borrow heavily to pay four times the price for the GM varieties, along with the chemicals needed to grow them. In spite of glowing promises of higher yields by Monsanto's ads, Bt cotton often performs poorly. Tragically, tens of thousands of indebted desperate farmers have resorted to suicide, often drinking unused pesticides. In one region, more than three Bt cotton farmers take their own lives each day. Replacing Nature: "Nothing Shall Be Eaten That We Don't Own" Monsanto is the world's largest seed company and many are concerned. Troy Roush says, "They are in the process of owning food, all food." Paraguayan farmer Jorge Galeano says, "Its objective is to control all of the world's food production." Renowned Indian physicist and community organizer Vandana Shiva says, "If they control seed, they control food; they know it, it's strategic. It's more powerful than bombs; it's more powerful than guns. This is the best way to control the populations of the world." The World According to Monsanto is aptly named. It is about Monsanto seeking to recreate the world in its own image, for its own benefit. They intend to replace (and patent) the entire food supply. And since their genetic pollution self-propagates in the environment, it will outlast the effects of global warming and nuclear waste. Such widespread permanent influence may not be safe with any individual or company. With Monsanto's record, the results can only be catastrophic. This powerful documentary might just inspire a global rejection of Monsanto's plans for our world. If so, it will be the most important film in history

Jeffrey M. Smith is the international bestselling author of Seeds of Deception and Genetic Roulette, the executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology, and director of The Campaign for Healthier Eating in America.
The World According to Monsanto is co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada, ARTE France, Image & Compagnie, WDR, and Les Productions Thalie.

Why should England come?

Why should England cricket team come to play the reminder of the series?
When we donot know our own fate and how & where will the next blast happen, what guarantee can we give these Poms?
Hey, is it not an enormous responsibility?
We are not capable of coordinating our own intelligence nor capable of sealing our borders nor capable of putting pressure on paks and controlling the terror attacks. We just do not have clue to arrest such events from happening nor do we have the guts to fly across and bump off all those terrorists camps (er universities?).
If we do not know how to trace them or to stop/reduce such events why is a cricket teams visit so important in these days?
If I were any of those cricketers I wudnt be travelling. Whats more important than living, eh?
Why should ECB coolly keep these blokes' lives on the line? at what cost, I beg!
ok, The 1st match if pakistan & rain wishes shall be at Chennai! Will I go to see the match?
NOOOOOOOO..not bcos of the cheap facilities provided at the grounds by our rich board, as discussed before, but bcos I do not know if there shall be a blast at chepauk. nor does my govt know.
So why risk? But thats the sane me, not dictated by BCCI's money!
poor English players:-( let allah save them.
lets wish them all luck, but not sympathise if anything untoward happens later.
they took the risk, right? with the currencies dangling in front of their eyes!

My first Fasting!

Yeah Fasting! I fasted and that too for 36+ hours! The last I ate was 2nd Dec dinner and broke the fast at 10am on 4th Dec. Ofcourse there were two nights in between, discounting them too it’s a personal feat. Considering the fact that normally I cannot think of fasting in between meals.

Why fast at all?
Fasting for me was associated with Gandhi and freedom struggle days. Later on a different variety of fast was thrown on us by the politicians. (that they pulled a ‘fast’ one is well known). So I hardly used to react to fasts. Even when my devout muslim friends used to fast during Ramadhan, I used to wonder how they could do that at all and I used to feel odd to munch some choc or even talk of food in their presence. Recently when I was sharing some short eats during our restore bazaar, a couple of my friends casually told they were fasting on behalf of the Bhopal victims and believe me that was jolt!
Finally during our visit to Navadarshanam, I had more insight in to this. A few of the residents of ND never eat dinner. Many of them casually suggest ‘fasting’ as a remedy for any problem. I did see it, as one of the unwell residents went of fast one full day to be up and running the next day. I was told - Fasts help our body to digest and expel unwanted stuff like toxins and other fats hitherto not digested completely but have been residing undesiredly. It also helps clean our system.
So it has been on my mind in the recent past and also the fact that my grand father always used to say ‘ laganam parama aushadham’ (fasting is the best medicine- but we used to pooh pooh & laugh it out then, but now is time to recall and listen isn’t?)
But my doubts that I can hardly do without food (or most importantly snacks)for a few hours was haunting me. So I just decided to try and Try I did, successfully.
I just suddenly decided I shall fast, even prompting W to admonish such unannounced stunts. (hmm..I struggled so much to make a zucchini salad and some org veggie rice and here u pull a fast, hmm…bla, bla)
After the first 2 hours it was casual. All it needs is just a mind to try. Its not that I had to be on bed or stranded in my room. I went to drop and pickup my nephew from school and carried out all normal chores at home. I didn’t venture out though.
I felt absolutely light and fine the next day. Only after dropping my nephew at school, I had my brunch – to break the fast.
Its so nice a feeling, I right away recommend and also hope to repeat regularly myself!
Now go fast, fast!
